Its The End of The World As We Know It...

All this talk about the rapture and apocalypse has me giggling and humming the late 80's REM classic that inspired today's post title. If you're anywhere around my age you likely recall the tune.

I used to dance around my bedroom as only an overhyped teen girl can do singing the chorus at the top of my lungs and then awkwardly humming the verses since I could never manage to remember anything except "Lenny Bruce is not afraid"... kinda like I did with Billy Joel's We Didn't Start The Fire.

Anyway, as you likely already know the apocalypse is "scheduled" for tomorrow. Which is frankly a big bummer since I have a salon appointment for a mani/pedi, cut and color. What happened to the commandment that thou shall not mess with a woman's day at the salon? Just saying.

a few giggles....

Weekend Plans?

Honey, did you pack the gin?

Royal Wedding Madness

Surely it comes as no surprise that I am over the top excited for the upcoming royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. Or Wills and Kate if you will, cause we're tight, natch.

For the last few weeks I've been discussing the details, the fashions, the parties and the barrage of paparazzi pics with my twitter gals. The Daily Beast did a fabulous summary with pictures of the wedding details, here if you're new to all this wedding madness. And Art Info added some unique family and guest list details I hadn't heard in their summary, here.

I can hardly believe that the big day is finally upon us. Are you hosing a party? Attending one? Alas I'm not but have heard from several super creative fabulous ladies who are hosting their own. What a fabulous idea! In some cases they've made it a girls sleep over. I'm squealing on the inside for you and I just hope to get pictures from these fabulous soirees!

This is the one I had!
I am old enough to remember the epic wedding of Charles and Diana, though to be fair I was a very wee one and probably didn't notice anything more than Diana's amazing dress. In fact my favorite memory from the wedding were the Charles and Di paper dolls that I played with for ages and ages. I was tickled to see that they are in fact still making paper dolls and have created a William and Kate royal set! If I had a daughter I would totally justify purchasing them.

And speaking of royal wedding memorabilia, holy mother of marketing!! I couldn't believe how much was out there. I'll let you decide what is a "must have" and what is... well, tacky. So, whether you're sipping champagne, Pimm's or in my case a very strong cup of coffee (It'll be 5am people, seriously!) I hope you can giggle at a few of these preposterous items while ooohing and awwwhing at the fabulous fashions, fascinators and *fingers crossed* royal jewels!

I maybe kinda want this!

And they've even made a few things for those who may not be as excited as I am for the wedding!

Happy Birthday Boys!

Let me start by saying I am currently making fun of myself for even thinking about posting this much less actually doing it... so with that in mind I have to include at least one snarky anti-twilight funny.

Okay, so you may have already guessed that I am not referring to my own two boys' birthdays. After all, it would be kinda weird for them to share the same birthday, but whatever that's not what this post is about.

Instead I'm sending birthday wishes to two other men that I've never met and likely never will. Totally normal, right?

I had a super busy day but couldn't let this twi-pportunity to bump up my Twi-related posts pass by, so with out further ado....

~ Happy Birthday RPatzz ~
~ Happy Birthday SR ~
(or SIR as I prefer)

I know it's not sparkly or glittery but I'm a busy woman with not one, but two children sitting on me at the moment. This is the best I can do.

Cheers,
Ouiser

PS I know you don't know who SR is and that's okay. From what I can tell he is sweet, intelligent, an extremely talented writer and has an adorable mummy to boot! Below is a picture that my very own Clairee created for SR's birthday and I thought it was too cute not to share. Kudo's to you Ms. Clairee, I love you more than my luggage!!

Hello Anybody Out There?

**clears throat and looks around nervously**

Hi... umm, hello?

So yeah it's been a while sorry about that. In fact Le Coeur is curled up on her fluffy chaise with her back to me ignoring my pleas. I hope the salted chocolate caramels and pol roger I sent her way make a dent.

While I'm finishing up a "real" post for today, here is a brief list of thing that happened while I was away.

1. Baby Deaux got his ticket to the promise land and didn't poop on the Bishop or anything!

2. We finally got a new sofa *yay* although I'm still waiting on the upholstered chairs I ordered 6 weeks ago from Ballards. Cute right?

3. I finally came up with a good blog nickname for our older son. Little Mister. I realized yesterday I call him that all the time so now it's Little Mister and Baby Deux.

4. Gained 5 pounds from all the delicious leftovers. Sigh. Re-starting the only diet that's ever worked for me today.... Coffee + Protein + Twilight Books = Rapid Weight Loss.

I think that's about it....

Hip & Cool I Am No More, I'd Rather Have a Nice Meal & Go to Bed

Morning all,

Is it Saturday? I seriously woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday, then reality set it. DH whisked me out on the town last night, which is odd for us on a Monday and probably explaining my confusion this morning. We had originally booked the sitter so we could go to a concert last night. Little did I know you had to buy tickets in advance. The "concert" was at a club... does anyone else remember having to buy tickets in advance to a club???

Maybe I'm old (sigh) but I recall waiting in line, paying a ridiculously high cover charge, getting the requisite stamp/wristband and diving into an overcrowded bar to spend way too much for a watered down cocktail half of which would be spilled before you found a small dingy table in the corner. So yah, I was shocked to find out that it was sold out.

But in retrospect I had a significantly better time last night than I probably would have had if we'd gone to said club. Instead we dined at Black Salt in... well I don't know the neighborhood's name. This Virginian gets so confused with all the neighborhoods in NW. Is it MacArthur? Palisades? Glover Park? So, I'll just call it upper NW.

What seems like ages ago we made a bet, one that neither of can remember the details of but we both remembered that I'd won and had requested dinner at Black Salt as my reward.

Anyway, we had a decadently delicious dinner. Cocktails to start followed by sparkling wine, oysters, fried clams, two delicious fish dishes, two incredibly rich desserts and cappuccino to end. Phewwww, yes we had to be rolled out of the restaurant in a wheel barrel but it was worth it!

DH was so sweet he even tried to buy scalped tickets for the concert. But as we poured ourselves home I realized that I had more fun talking and laughing with DH over a nice meal than I ever would have at a loud, smelly, dark bar where I probably would have been forced to drink bad beer.

I may be old and unhip but I'm much much happier in my cleaner, nicer and much tastier surroundings.

Cheers,

It's That Time of Year Again...

While some people have Valentines Day and President's Day on their February calendars, we have Feb. 17th marked on ours... What is the significance you might ask? That was the day that Cubs pitchers and catchers reported. Yep, Ouiser's clan is O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with Cubs baseball.

Author's Note: DH is actually at this very moment participating in one of four, maybe five fantasy baseball drafts. Sigh, and he makes fun of my fanfic reading. I mean really is one worse than the other? I don't think so.

Anywho, being the dedicated, loyal, loving and perfect wife that I am I try to make sure that I have at least a working knowledge of the Cubs. And until now, I'd either gotten my information from DH directly or from Baseball Tonight... again while DH is watching. Well, this year I'm taking the initiative to get all "in the weeds," roll around in the dirt and get the low down (are the kids still saying that? yes? Coolio.)

What was that? how am I planning to get said information? I'm so glad you asked... Apparently THE blog to visit for all the latest on the Cubs is ... www.wrigleyville23.com

Cubs Piniella Ejected Against the Rockies in DenverJust took a quick peek and am now chalk full of fun little tid bits to toss out at DH to let him know how much I care...

1. Lou "no-last-name-needed" has a cold. Hey, Lou are you taking airborne? Cause that totally works. Also I use an aspirator and saline spray with my babies and they seem to love it. And by love it I mean absolutely HATE it but it works, so maybe you should try it?

2. Mets fans are super classy and are totally "into" Opera. That's awesome, cause I also want to be "into" Opera" In fact I regularly get "invitation only" letters from The Kennedy Center asking me to contribute to their foundation.  Obviously I'm someone special.

3. Former Cubs players (specifically Mr. Milton Bradley) are fluent in Latin. Which is totally awesome cause I had one year of Latin in 8th grade, so I'm also pretty much fluent.

4. Cubs Fans hate certain mean journalist. Oh. My. God. Meeeee tooooooo! As a political fundraiser in my pre-mommy days, those mean media types were always trying to make me look bad with salacious headlines like... "Nicole {lastname} arming Democrats with Guns". I kid you not folks, that was really a headline circa 2001.

So you see my point ... folks you really should be reading the Wrigleyville blog. It's witty and informative and it gives me just one more reason to remind DH how lucky he is that I said yes. And really isn't forced gratitude at the heart of any healthy marriage?

Cheers,
Ouiser

PS Tony, hope you are okay with this... it's all in good fun! I did check out your blog tonight and really really like it. So much so I'm adding it to the blog roll! Cause you know I have TENs of readers every day.

Things I Learned from My Girl's Night

Last night I hosted an impromptu girls supper after our designated host cancelled due to a seriously nasty bout with the flu. So far it sounds like the awful illness is still winning. (sorry sweetie!)

This is of course why I didn't post last night but it did give me today's post (as well as some seriously needed girl time) so there's my rational...and yes I know you're dying for this week's recipe so I'll try to get that out later today or tonight.

As a stay at home mom I'm kinda what you might call "out of the loop". Basically the only things I can converse about intelligibly are which diapers are the most absorbent and which diaper cream works best (Pampers & Triple cream if you're curious) Frankly I'm not even that up to date with the latest baby accessories recalls. DH is always the one to send me the information. Yes, I know its another mom fail.

Any who, here are just a few of the new and interesting things I learned last night during my brief glimpse into the world of the working woman ~ sans children.

1. Madonna is old and no longer cool because Lady Gaga isn't interested in appearing with her.
*note: Lady Gaga is not in fact a man in drag as I assumed ala RuPaul. She's a very popular singer.

2. Boys and Girls no longer talk on the phone. They don't even email. They text. It is even acceptable to break up over a text.
*note: I would not have liked this. I'm much too wordy.

3. It is still unacceptable to spend your 5th date in a row at the bar. And it is never okay to tell the girl you'll split the sushi roll she just ordered.
*thank goodness some things haven't changed.

And lastly....

4. No matter how much dessert you eat while at someone else's house there is never enough arm twisting to get you to take even one bite home with you. Sigh... I have a lot of dessert in my fridge that I just know I'm going to have for lunch today.
*note: I kinda already knew this one, but it didn't stop me from over buying at the store yesterday.

Hope you found this tutorial helpful!

I totally want to hang out with ... The Guys from OK GO

So I may have just stumbled up on a new regular feature for the blog... "I totally want to hang out with..."  just think of all the possibilities. Aside from RPattz cause he'd be my first choice, natch.

I was going to blog about the funny singing filet-o-fish from the McDonald's commercials. No, I'm not kidding. What? Its funny. Seriously. Okay, well you can click here to see it and judge for yourself.

Instead, you've lucked out because DH was annoyed that I'd even pull up the fish video much less blog about it, so he suggested I take a look at this....

Totally amazing right? Have you already seen this? I'm guessing since I'm the 2,995,455th viewer you might have. Gaawwwd, why am I always late to the party? Sigh... well I'm guessing Mamere hasn't seen it. Although she does work with college students so you never know.  Sometimes she's surprisingly hip!

I'm pretty sure there is a least one guy in that video that may (or may not) have helped me pass high school science. What? So I'm not a math-science person. I have other talents. But I totally want to hang out with these guys. They look like they'd be a riot. And of course we'd be in a pub in London, making it all the more fun.

Anyway, here is another one of their videos that I think is amazing, freaky and hilarious all at once.

Are you laughing? I hope so!

Ode to Canada...

Morning Readers....

Hope you had a restful weekend ~ and if not I hope that you have plenty of caffeine in your system. You all know I fluctuate between coffee and wine with a few obligatory glasses of water in between for good measure.

Not to get all "big brother" on you but recently I've noticed that I actually have a few regular readers and I'm pretty sure they are outside my immediate family. **cheers wildly** Yay, Me!

And to those of you that are reading, please chime in with your thoughts! I would love to chat about all things. Seriously... home decor ... twilight... blogs you like... RPattz... books you're reading ... twi-fiction... food & wine. Just a few things I love! Did I mention RPattz? okay, pheww.

So on to today's post... Have you been watching the Olympics? What am I saying of course you have... Even if you don't know what curling is you've been watching (as I have) I'm sure.

As I watched the Canadian Men's Hockey team score the winning goal in overtime yesterday I was surprised to feel relief. I mean don't get me wrong, I was cheering for our team but I was kinda routing for Canada too. I mean it seems really cold up there... like really really cold and apparently hockey is really important to them, like really really important. So I guess it would have been great if we'd won the gold, but I'm pretty sure it would have been devastating had they lost.

So cheers to you Oh Canada and here's one of my favorite (not-actually-a-Canandian) Canadians. Do you watch "How I Met Your Mother"? If you do, this is my second favorite storyline. The first being Slap-Bet... DH and I keep arguing about how many slaps are left. I'm pretty sure it's 2 but don't quote me on that.

Hope you have a (Robin) Sparkles kinda day!

Ouiser

Mea Culpa

Is that a chocolate bar I see? My computer must be depressed.
Dear Sweet Blog,

I'm sorry.

I know I gave you fair warning I'd be ignoring you this week but that doesn't make it hurt any less does it? I promise I did often think about you.... All alone in my little laptop just hoping I'd open you up so we could play and laugh. It makes me sad.

So, the kids are napping and I'm sipping on my third cup of coffee, a perfect time for us to play! What do you say? ...

**Bing**

LeCoeur: Hello Ouiser.

Ouiser: Uhhhh, Hello? LeCoeur is that you? I was just writing you a note. **nervously looks around**

LeCoeur: Yes, I see that.

Ouiser: Sooo, whatcha been up to?

LeCoeur: Once I realized you weren't coming back I put on my big girl pants, poured a glass of wine and ventured off to meet some new friends. You know, I'm very likable! **glaring with both eyes**

Ouiser: Oh that's great LeCoeur, I'm so happy for you. Did you meet anyone famous? Any cute boys? Spill it!

LeCoeur: Don't patronize me.

***crickets***

Ouiser: I'm sorry?

LeCoeur: Okay, that's better. **sachets over to a pouffy chaise lounge and curls up** So I guess I'll forgive you but don't let it happen again. I mean you didn't even share a recipe this week and I KNOW you had two in mind.

Ouiser: **plants head on desk** I know I know. How about if I post two recipes next week? Now... can we get on to the good stuff. Who'd you meet?

LeCoeur: First, did you know that Watts is a judge on American Idol?

Ouiser: Makes sense given her talent on the drums but I think you mean Ellen DeGeneres.

LeCoeur: Are you sure?

Ouiser: I mean I don't watch the show, but I'm pretty sure.

LeCoeur: Interesting. Well then... *with an evil glint in her eye** Did you know that Rob and Kristen were spotted out this week? And I'm pretty sure there was some kissing going on.

Ouiser: *Sigh* Yes, I did. You know even though I fully admit to "noticing" his hawtness, I'm not jealous or even envious. I have DH after all and I wouldn't trade him for anyone!  Plus did I mention he's 10 years younger? kinda icky.

LeCoer: *Pouting* You're no fun you know that? No fun at all.

Ouiser: Thanks LeCoeur... So, **nervously shuffles and lowers eyes** ... so, are we okay?

LaCoeur: Yes, but just so you know I am fully aware that you've been online and just chose not to visit me ... does this look familiar?

Ugh, always comes back to Twitter doesn't it?

Busted....

Thanks for sharing my warped world for a few moments.

Happy Friday!

Ouiser

Addiction & More Excuses

So I thought I'd just throw out an excuse life line now before I blink and it's next Wednesday and I haven't updated the blog. Cause Imma gonna be honest with you... that's a very likely situation.

DMIL and DFIL are in town this week to play with the grand-babies. You'd think that'd mean I could sneak upstairs and read fanfic, "real" books and blog or nap or do whatever the heck I want. No, sadly.

I mean I could do that, and the in laws would be more than okay with me doing that. However that would mean I wouldn't get any of the real life errands I've been putting off because they sound so misserable when adding a 20 month old and a 3 month old into the equation. Think UPS, Home Depot Returns and the Post Office. I mean I love my kids... and if I were honest am more than a bit obsessed with them actually.

Never the less my precious boy is unable to keep his hands to himself and is constantly trying to take his baby brother's pacifier ... and let me tell you, this does NOT make for a pleasant shopping experience. When do they grow out of that stage? Is is too early to consider boarding school? Kidding people, it's only a joke!

So there's my excuse if and when I bail on the blog this week ... And here's my lame attempt at a post...

Aside from DH and my two precious, adorable, perfect, never-poop-spitup-throwup-spit-throwfood-throwpoop children I can't think of anything I love more than coffee. Well coffee and wine, but that is a whole other post.

If I could physically drink it all day long I would. Alas some time around 2pm my body seems to stage a revolt refusing to accept any more till I give in and down a few glasses of water sans the caffeine. 2 o'clock doesn't sound late except for the fact that I usually pour my first cup around 6:30 am and continue till I've drained the 10 cup pot. And I'm not proud to admit this but sometimes I make a second pot. I've never actually finished the second pot, but it's always good to have goals. Right? Umm anyone still there?

So when looking online I found these coffee funnies. Enjoy! Hope they keep you laughing till my next post or probably more likely your next cup 'o coffee.

And incidentally when I was searching google for funny coffee images this fabulous gucci bag popped up. I'm thinking this is the internet fairies way of telling me I should buy it. What do you think?

And now I'm off to read a few more chapters in my Morganville Vampire Series before drifting off to bed and dreaming of coffee alarm jingles dancing in my head.

Cheers,
Ouiser

Late to the Party but Still Laughing!

I think we can all agree that I'm not exactly "cutting edge" and I'm always late to the party... example A and example B. So if you've seen this clip forgive me!

Never the less it makes me laugh hysterically every time I watch it so I'm going to post it anyway. I mean I guess there is an off chance you missed SNL this week or perhaps you missed any number of emails, blog posts and tweets linking to the clip on Sunday. Yep, it's now Tuesday, hardly breaking news I know. Well at least *I'm guessing* this will be new for Mamere. Of course Mamere probably won't think it's funny. Infact, she'll probably scold me for posting something with profanity. Tisk Tisk Ms. Ousier!

Okay enough with all the set up... Happy Politic-ing!

**Profanity warning** Yes, it's bleeped out but there is still a lot of it, so you've been forewarned!**

Okay what was your favorite part? Mine? Oh you're so sweet to ask... Well I'll tell you, it was the Facebook bit. What are you fourteen? hee hee I can't stop laughing!

Expedition for Essentials...

Just back from the Great Tundra where I've been out foraging for food and other essentials.... And yes "essentials" include Glitter Heart Fairy Wands, Butter and Beer..

En route to 7-11 *cue heavenly harp music* I made a stop into the Dairy Godmother for brownies, cookies, frozen custard and some heart shaped fairy wands, natch.

Imagine hearts instead of stars. Can't find a pic of the hearts & my son is sitting on me, preventing me from taking a pic of the ones I bought.

After some fun snow-bantering I trudged on to 7-11. While I assumed they'd have all sorts of fun grocery items DH was a little less sure. He's such a pessimist, okay okay "Realist".

So what do you think? Did I get the good stuff? I gave a half second thought about getting a slurpee but decided to go for the sparkling water instead.

Off to make a dinner of "Snacks" think nachos and popcorn. Perfect for watching the Super Bowl.

Geaux Saints!!!!!

A SnOMG Journal...

http://www.funny-potato.com/images/snowman/snow-man.jpg
Day One: Prepare for Snow-sault...
~ Stock fridge with food. DH came home with twice as much steak as I requested but "forgot" the lettuce.
~ Stock bar with wine & liquor. You know, for warmth!

~Unexpected power outage around 9:30pm. DH worries about heat for the babies, while I stress about our wireless internet access.

~ Remain calm and light candles. Note to self: Buy some non-scented candles. Our house still smells like a mixture of Christmas pine and black cherry with a hint of lily. PS that combo does not smell good.

~ When all out of conversation (aka DH is tired of me talking) go to bed earlier than either of us has since Baby Deux's birth.

Day Two: Snow-vasion continues
~ Thank God for the return of power and immediately make coffee, check twitter and reset all the clocks. Note to self: Add coffee press to list of items needed in our home emergency kit.

~ Make ginormous breakfast of fried eggs, bacon and homemade biscuits.

~ Super DH heads out (without his superhero cape) to shovel the house out. Roof and all!

~ Bundle up and go play in the snow with DH and the baby. Baby Duex stays inside and sleeps through it all. He's so lazy, right?

~ Dry off and eat again. What is it about snow days that makes me want to eat everything in my fridge?! S'now not okay. tee hee hee

~ Put baby to bed and start making Chicken Tortilla Soup and Quesadillas for dinner. Soup was delicious by the way but I can still feel the burn from the jalepeno. Its the next day and I've even showered. How long does it take capsaicin to leave your skin???

~ Atempt to rent a movie on On-Demand. Denied AGAIN and resort to watching Baby Mamma on HBO! What tha? I swear I paid the bill this time! Darn you Comcast! **shakes fist wildly in the air**

Day Three: Snow-bored

~ Wake up leisurely at 9:30. WHAT? Sweet DH lets me and Baby Duex sleep in as he wrestles with the drooling mess that is our older son.

~ Make another monster breakfast ~ Meegas the size of Chipotle Burritos!

~ Survey the quickly dwindling contents of our fridge.

~ Realize that the neighborhood cheese shop is closed again today rendering my fondu SuperBowl menu defunct. Worse yet is the realization that the only store open in walking distance is 7-11 and begin a very unhealthy "grocery" list.

Silver lining... we still have plenty of good wine so I will not be forced to buy any from 7-11. At least that's something!

Ousier

Snow-ma-geddon

The DC area is bracing for the "snow storm of the decade". If we hadn't already had several big snow storms this winter I might be more excited but we've stocked up on snacks and wine so as far as I'm concerned we're all set.

Having said that DH is home early and so no post for me today... Instead I'm going to play with DH and the boys all afternoon.

I'm off to make some hot cocoa. Okay ONE tip to share. When making hot chocolate add a few chocolate chips to the milk and cocoa powder to kick up the chocolatey flavor. Shhh, it'll be our little secret.

Enjoy!

Ouiser

A Plague On Both Your Houses...

We only have one house but Mercutio had it right. A plague of stomach illness overtook our house last week and it was ugly.

Sorry to abandon the blog but I wasn't able to do much more than groan as I limped from bed to sofa to the floor and back to the sofa. And yes, before you ask a limp is totally a symptom of the stomach bug.

The funny thing is that my sick son kept following me around all day. I'd lay him down on one sofa and go lie on the other one. Then he'd come over and lie on the floor next to me. After a few moments it would occur to me that leaving my son on the floor as I was lounging on the sofa was pretty crappy of me so I'd get down on the floor with him and we'd just lie there. It was a sad sad picture I'm not going to lie.

Thankfully Super DH (yep there's a costume that goes with that) arrived home from work to save the day. And luckily neither he nor Baby Deux contracted the plague... must be superior genes.

Now that we're on the mend I'm back online. Will try to post something later today or tomorrow but there is just so much important reading *Sigh, yes I'm referring to twilight fanfiction* to catch up on.

Happy Rainy Dreary Monday!

Hope it's sunny where you are.

Cheers,
Ouiser

Time Suckage...

So apparently this whole parenting thing is a full time job! Who knew that being a stay at home mom would be so much work. Don't get me wrong it's increadibly fulfilling and I am so lucky to have all these moments with my kids... even the ones where they are both red faced and screaming they are crying so hard but it doesn't mean I don't look forward to bed time... theirs ... not mine.

So two days with no posts and darn I was doing so well this week too. Well real life just totally got in the way. Between the BCS National Championship last night. So sad for Colt McCoy, he's such a great kid. And I'm sad for the Longhorns but Alabama did a great job and they deserved the win. Sniff Sniff, doesn't mean I'm not still sad about the loss.

Plus my littlest ones 2 month check up and a play group this afternoon has meant that something had to go and this week it was any hope for a new blog post.

however I have a few minutes on my hands before I need to hit the hay  so I'm blogging of course. That is since both kids are asleep, the hubs is busy with his new PlayStation 3 -- yes I'm the coolest wife ever. With this year's christmas gift we are up to FOUR video game units in our home and our boys aren't even old enough to hold the game controllers! and I'm totally up to date with all my fanfiction although I do have a number of stories I need to start reading but thats for another time.

I don't have too much to add today other than there is a certain song that I want to share with you. I heard it recently while at a dinner party at a friends house. I can't seem to get it out of my head and as DH can attest when that happens I usually go into full on obsessive mode for a few weeks.

As I discovered while looking online for the song, it's from the soundtrack of a movie called Donnie Darko. I don't know about you but I'd never even heard of this flick and judging from the images I saw on Google I NEVER EVER want to. It looks scary... like pee in your pants and hide under the covers scary. So aside from that aspect, I love the tune, Mad World.

I believe the Tears for Fears version is the original but don't hold me to that.

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

I'll try to be better next week about posting every day. I really do have a few books that I want to write about if these darned kids didn't take up so much of my time. They are so bossy... you know asking for food and love and play time! Oh and DH is heading out of town for work so I may be too deliriously tired to write anything that makes sense. Boy, nothing like setting expectations super low right? :)

Well enjoy your weekend! I'm off to pour another glass of wine and listen to Mad World on repeat, irritating DH to no end I'm certain.

Cheers,
Ouiser

Addicted to Baskin Robbins Commercial... You Too?

So wow, its been like a week since my last post and I'll be honest the last post was lame and pretty sucky. Not that I don't love Neimans or big sales, in fact other than my immediate family and a big jar of nutella there isn't much I like more than a sale, especially if it's at Neiman's but you're right I didn't so much give it my all. Oh and I also love wine, like a lot... so my immediate family, nutella and wine. Yep those are my favorite things.

I don't have much of an excuse, well you know other than the fact that I'm busy trying to shape the minds of two (sometimes three) men so get off my back! side note: Baby duex totally rolled over the other night. Like I said before, genius. Clearly DH and I make some pretty freakin' great kids.

But never fear, cause Mamere is here! (yes that is meant to rhyme and be sung a la Mighty Mouse theme song)

Not only can Christmas officially begin with my mother's arrival I will also have time to do all those luxurious things I've been putting off... you know like showering, brushing my hair, putting on clean clothes... and if you dear reader are really lucky some new blog posts for your enjoyment as you hide from your family and pretend to be "catching up on news." Yep I've used that excuse too, but usually because I'm reading some salacious fan fiction.

But enough about me and my inability to efficiently manage my sleep to work time ratio....

Have you seen the Baskin Robins Ice Cream Cake Commercial? Its hilarious, like beat yourself over the head with a baseball bat repeatedly hilarious. I'm pretty sure this commercial... much like Celine Dion... is something you either totally love and are obsessed with or makes your ears bleed. I'm in the former group. It literally makes me dance in my seat when I hear it and yes I totally sing along- off key and mostly getting the words wrong. Just one more thing that makes DH cringe with embarrassment. I'm not sure if he's more embarrassed for me or of me.

So with out further ado here it is. Let me know if you think I'm crazy to love it or if it makes you want to pull out your hair.

And I will try my best to take advantage of mamere's visit to post some more deep, meaningful and thoughtful posts... like today's!

Cheers,
Ouiser

~Update~ New Folgers Coffee Christmas Commercial

Hat tip to one fabulous reader, Jonathan for sharing a link to the  the new Folgers Coffee Christmas commercial.

You might remember I blogged about my love of the original commercial circa the 1980's here and then about the new commercial here. As promised I'm adding the video clip for all of you that have been on pins and needless waiting to see it yourself.

Do you love it? Hate it? Could care less?

If you love it here's a free tip, try tuning into the Hallmark channel I'm pretty sure they play it at least once during every commercial break.

Okay back to the Texas vs. Nebraska game. Thank the God of all things football that we made that last touch down.

Cheers,
Ouiser

Ticking Clock....

Holy Cow! I just realized I have exactly 27 minutes of free time for the first time in ... ummmmm.... let's see.... ummmm... okay... a long time?

So of course I've headed straight to my blog to post something... anything, regardless of the fact that I've given no thought at all to what I'm going to write. That's beside the point, you won't mind if this is mindless drivel right? Cause we're friends, like really great friends right? And friends are required to listen to total drivel and nod supportively. Sometimes I love being a woman! I am pretty sure guys don't do that... just a slap on the back and an offer to buy you another round.

My continued lack of sleep has pretty much assured that I no longer have any real sense of time. When DH asked what time I got up in the middle of the night to feed the baby my regular response is "I dunno? maybe 3am? or was it 4am? I'm pretty sure it was between 3am and 5am."

I should note, that I'd literally be walking into walls if my in laws weren't here. My MIL has been making scrumptious dinners every night and getting up with our older son every morning. I'm totally ignoring the fact they are going home in a matter of days. No, no I can't think about that now, I won't think about that today, I'll think about that tomorrow. I think Miss Scarlett was really on to something.

15 minutes left....

So with my coffee buzz waining and the fact that I'm pretty sure I'm running out of words I know how to spell I'll wrap this up. Ugh, still no spell check on the new and (not) improved blogger.

Happy Friday.. oh wait... College Football! Okay you gotta check out the games this weekend. Of course you should watch the Texas game, natch but THE game to watch is the SEC championship between Alabama and Florida. The game will be great for sure and the winner will likely face Texas in the National Championship! Oh and a nod to my actual alma mater, SMU is going to a bowl game for the first time in like 20 years! Go Mustangs!!!!

7 minutes left...

Okay, so I'm going to leave you with a funny video from one of the funniest shows ever. Anyone else remember Mystery Science Theater 3000? Hilarious! And the fact that they are making fun of Twilight makes this even better. *Yes DH, I can make fun of Twilight and still be obsessed!* Enjoy and the next time I have a few minutes I'll try to post something equally silly and mindless.

Cheers,
Ouiser

with 1 minute to spare!
