There's a New Moon Rising...

**rings bells wildly and shouting**

The British Are Coming, The British Are Coming.....

So I'm taking liberty with that line but RPattz is British as is the good Doctor Cullen so work with me people. DH and I were up past midnight with Baby Deux and then back up again with him at 5am. Did I mention I've only had two cups of coffee?

Anywho, my dear post man arrived yesterday afternoon to me squealing....  It's Heeeeeeeeeeere. Yes, that's right my New Moon DVD arrived yesterday afternoon. Here's a bit of conversation I had afterwards with DH. And if you don't pick up the sarcasm you're not reading it right.

Ouiser: So, our precious angel ran off with the remote control and I've just spent 20 minute on the hunt. It was in the bathroom, natch  PS New Moon arrived today, feel like breaking it in tonight?

DH: Oh boy, shouldn't that be saved for a weekend so we can really spend time analyzing it.

Ouiser: Wow, that soon? Are you sure I shouldn't just wait till you're out of town late next month?

DH: That is a good idea. Wait, you're watching it right now aren't you? you are.

Ouiser: Moi? Sigh.... No, but I thought about it. Alas, good mommy won out and we're watching sesame street instead.

Poor poor Ouiser, right? I guess my feelings are best summed up by one of my favorite tweeps (that's people who twitter)...

"My gay husband just offered to come over and watch New Moon with me. My real husband says that's great!"

Sigh... where is my gay husband?

So, long story short, my fingers are crossed I can watch New Moon during nap time today, that is unless I pass out from exhaustion.

Cheers,

Remember Me Premiere

3/4/10 UPDATE: I found it I found it I found it.... the link to the super funny blog post about how to get your boyfriend to take you to Remember Me! Once your read this whole post you'll get this note. Click here to read it.

If you're part of the Twilight baptized then you can go ahead and skip ahead to the trailer cause you already know everything I'm going to say here....

Seriously dear friend go ahead... nothing for you to read here. With all my love and respect ... shoo!

**glances left then right making sure the coast is clear**

Okay, now that its just us I can relish in the opportunity to be the one to tell you about this little flick. Cause seriously folks it looks drool-worthy good. I'm thinking better than a tray of buttercream frosted cupcakes but not as good as say... you know my littlest rolling over for the first time.

Sidebar: So, yep baby deux rolled over last week. One proud mommy! Of course he's clearly our second because when mamere asked me if this was early or late for his age I was clueless. Haven't read one book for this one... poor baby deux.

Okay back to the movie....

The basic story line involves RPattz as Tyler, a wealthy, angsty, twenty-something who has a rocky (at best) relationship with his father, played by the equally smexy Pierce Brosnan.

There's of course a girl, played by Emilie de Ravin (aka Claire from Lost) and a budding romance between the two that is sure to be hawt! I may or may not have seen a few stills from a shower scene (yes fully clothed) that is super delish!

Sidebar: Anyone else think it's a little weird to have warm fuzzy feelings for both RPattz and PBrosnan? I guess it's sorta like my issues (discussed here) with the Cullen father-son thing, but I digress... again.

So far, its getting great reviews and not just because of the handsome leading men. Apparently the dialogue, directing, acting and editing isn't too shabby either. Oh and if you're worried about figuring out how to get your husband/boyfriend/guy friend to see it with you? Well I read a hilarious post that gives LOTS of suggestions but alas I can't find it for the life of me. (Ouiser Fail)

I tried out a few on DH the other weekend as we sat in the theater waiting for Avatar to start (obviously his movie pick, but I must admit the special effects were like nothing I've ever seen!) I don't think he's "excited" to see Remember Me but I think he's willing. **fingers crossed**

Remember Me premiered in NYC last night and will be released nationwide on Friday, March 12th.

With out further adue .... I give you Remember Me, **le sigh**

Welcome back fellow twi-hards.... pretty delicious right?

Oh and before I forget, Saturday, March 13th is being dubbed Remember Me Saturday. You can read more about it here but in essence it's a fan event to support the cast and crew of Remember Me by boosting opening weekend sales.

Johnny Depp & Rob Pattinson ~ Hello March Madness!

So I don't want to go all fangirly on everyone out there so I'm going to get this out early... Squuueeeeel! March is going to be like totally awesome.

Okay, so if you're old (like me) you might think of Johnny Depp more like this than like this but both young and old can agree that he's hot. And the whole cool-shyguy-livinginaforeigncountry- thing isn't exactly a turn off either.

As you already know from reading this, New Moon is being released on March 20th. Have you pre-ordered your copy? It's not too late!

But March will also see the release of Tim Burton's latest creep-ilicious retelling of a childhood classic. This time he's taken Alice in Wonderland, swirling it into his already bizarre mind and I can't wait to see it!

Here's the trailer, take a peek. Apparently this was aired during the super bowl but I must have missed it cause I don't remember seeing it.

"I love a warm pig belly for my aching feet" Great stuff, right?!

It hits theaters on March 5th and I'm definitely requesting this as my movie pick for my next date night with DH. Yep, dinner and a movie *sans kiddos* is a BIG night out for us these days. You know... cause we're old, I already told you that. Geesh.

Happy Drooling!

If My Embarrassment Helps Even One Person Its Worth It...

Yep, thats right it's time to pre-order your copy of New Moon. What? You thought I was referring to something else? Like what? my battle with dry skin? or post baby weight loss? Ha ha ha, no no my dear friend it's something infinitely more important.

Now for those truly Twi-sessed folks this is old news... like Tiger Woods is gross old news. But as I said above, if I can share the good news with even one person it'll be worth it. Click here to buy New Moon on Blue Ray and here for the "regular" dvd.
I am ordering my copy on Blue Ray, my very first one. I don't count Batman, that's totally DH's.

Do you remember the first video tape you owned? Mine was Silver Streak with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. It was a favorite of my dad's and we watched it on our enormous VCR over and over and over. But I've digressed again haven't I? Shocking I know.

I gave DH a PlayStation 3 for Christmas this year and as the nice BestBuy lady told me it also plays Blue Ray DVDs. Of course I didn't know what a blue ray dvd was or more to the point what the difference was but I nodded and smiled so she'd see I was impressed. Even now I'm not sure I'd pass a pop quiz on the subject but for my purposes I'm pretty sure it means that RPatzz will be way hotter on this version. S-O-L-D!

I was only able to see New Moon once in the theaters. However, I did attend the midnight screening despite giving birth to our second child less than 10 days before. What? Stop looking at me like that, I was totally out of the hospital and home by that point. Never the less I think I used up most of my goodwill with DH in attending the midnight showing. I'm afraid if I told him I was going for a second or even third time he'd actually start worrying about my "quirky little obsession." So needless to say I'm dying to see it again and over analyze every little thing I can.

And just think, by the time my hot little Blue Ray New Moon DVD arrives on March 20th, I'll only have to wait another 3 months till Eclipse hits theaters!

Cheers,
Ousier

Golden Globes...

This will be incredibly short... if you are online and reading this... Stop,  Run don't walk  to your TV and tune in now to NBC to watch the Golden Globes!!! To me this show is infinitely more entertaining than the Oscars. Not to mention that one of my most favorite friend's father is the executive producer. Although don't think that means I've ever gotten tickets or anything. gahh! Maybe some public shame will help pave the way to attending one of these years.

Vanity Fair is also live blogging from the show if you want to check that out, click here.

Till tomorrow peeps... kick back, pour a big girl glass of wine (I'm sipping on a delicious Petite Sirah) and enjoy the three day weekend. Oh did I mention that DH is making chinese food? That's right I said "making" not "ordering." I am a very very lucky girl!

1980's Flashback

Happy Friday... If you can get through the randomness of my post there's a delicious little video surprise at the end.

As I sit here watching my son press his nose to the television while watching his favorite show (Super Why in case you're curious) I can't help but wonder where this obsession with the television came from... (rhetorical question, it's ME of course)

I have after all made some pretty serious life altering decisions based on a current movie obsession.

Example #1 Dead's Poets Society. Afterwhich I became obsessed with the idea of leaving home (Austin, Texas) to attend boarding school on the east coast. About 6 months later, several long conversations with my mother and one trip to visit my options I was off to a very small town in the middle of Connecticut. God, you should have seen what I wore the first day, I was a preppy nightmare in jeans, brown suede loafers (no socks, natch), a purple & white polo with a matching purple blazer. And as luck would have it I curiously picked the only school in the tri-state area where preppy was decidedly uncool. I stuck out like a sore thumb that whole year. Thankfully I was returned to my rightful place in public school by my junior year with only a little bit of flannel and alternative angst to show for it.

Example #2 St. Elmo's Fire. Yep, Judd Nelson literally drove me to Washington DC. No it wasn't Rob Lowe... I always tended to prefer the unfavorable characters, think James Spader not Andrew McCarthy. Anyway, yes the degree in Poli Sci helped but it was Judd Nelson that I was in search of. As some sort of self-loathing Democrat I was in search of the adorably arrogant Republican (minus the whole cheating thing of course). And you might say that I found him in DH. (by the way I totally meant arrogant in a good way sweet heart!)

And then of course there have been a number of movies that have made me seriously WANT to do something... thankfully DH has been able to shake some sense into me on a number of occasions. Like when I decided I'd be the best NFL head coach after watching Any Given Sunday. Speaking of which why aren't their any female head coaches? I think that'd WAY more fun than being the President... but that's just me.

And then there was The Thomas Crown Affair (the remake). THUD... there went my heart. That is one HOT movie by the way. Anyway, where was I? Yes, Rene Russo....I thought for sure if I studied antique art appraisal I could become her character... basically an international bounty hunter with a designer wardrobe. I even went as far as to apply (and be accepted) into the Art Appraisal School here in DC.

I know this is long and rambling but if you've read any of my posts you've come to expect it... so here's my point, It's late on a Friday and I wanted to share the link to some fabulous clips of iconic movie songs and film clips from the 1980's. Think Karate Kid, The Goonies, Gostbusters and The Breakfast Club.

I can't take credit for putting the list together but I have no problem passing it along. This is from a tweet I received earlier today from the hilarious "our kitchen sink". You can follow them on twitter here if you aren't you should be! And if you are so inclined you can follow me on twitter here.

Here's a one video teaser... I'm going to sit back with my large glass of wine and enjoy. Wasn't Val Kilmer a hottie in 1986? With a jaw line like this one could even say he was the RPatzz of the '80's. Oh and have you seen the Saint? Umm, yeah not only did Val Kilmer make me drool, it also made me want to be an international spy.

If you like what you see you should totally check out the full post, 12 Songs That Define 80's Cinema from http://www.chicagonow.com/.

New Moon ~ Volturi Fight Scene

Maybe it's because I went to my first Twilight party last night or maybe it's because I'm rereading New Moon in preparation for the movie but either way I just can't get enough....

Check out the newest clip of Edward taking on the Volturi in the upcoming film, New Moon. I think New Moon is going to kick Twilight's arse... don't you?

If for some reason you've been living under a rock, in a cave or a nuclear fall out shelter and are not familiar with or more to the point obsessed with Twilight I will explain. New Moon is the second book in the four book series about Edward Cullen, angst vampire extraordinaire and his girl, Bella Swan.

The movie adaptation is arriving in theaters next month. I'm determined to see it opening weekend although since I will have a 10 day old newborn in the house I'm not sure the midnight screening is my best option. Matinee anyone???

I've got chills, they're multiplying and I'm loooosing control.... Seriously yall, doesn't it give you goosebumps and make you tingly all over????

Cheers,
Ouiser

Deliciously Darling Dolly!

As a good Southern Girl I love me some Dolly Parton!

You too? I thought so.... I mean how can you not love this lady? She's completely self made, perky (in every imaginable way), charming, smart, independent, successful, talented, smart, kind, insanely positive... oh and did I mention she's been married to the same man for 43 years? Yeah, she's pretty awesome.

My all time favorite Dolly story comes from a few years ago when I saw an interview with Julia Roberts about her role in Steel Magnolias. As you might have guessed this is my all time favorite movie... hence my pseudonym. Anyway, in the interview Julia mentions that she was complaining to Dolly about the heat during filming... mmm take hot and muggy Shreveport and add movie lights, I can only imagine how sweaty, err scratch that, how glistening I'd be. (made me think of that great old phrase...Horses sweat, men perspire and ladies glisten) Anyway, Dolly replied with something like, Darlin' I've dreamt about doing this since I was a baby. I don't ever complain. What a good reminder of how blessed we all are.

Sooooo, imagine how happy I was when DH got me two tickets to her concert. I must admit that I've never been a huge concert fan... probably because growing up in Austin I was so spoiled by seeing some great bands in really really small venues. Therefore I've never really appreciated the mega stadiums where you either shell out hundreds to sit front row, mooch off a lobbyist to watch from their sky box or least fun bring your binoculars and watch from the nosebleed section with the other 20 somethings.

The Dolly concert was a totally different experience. I took one of my girlfriends... come on... DH loves me and is committed to spending the rest of his life with me but a Dolly concert? I don't think so. She and I got into the hall and were both surprised how intimate if felt. Dolly had already started when we arrived so we grabbed our drinks and found our seats.

After each song she sat on a stool and just chatted with the audience as if we were old friend sitting around catching up. She answered questions and told stories... all self-effacing of course. She's really very funny, natch. If I wasn't a devotee before that night I certainly was afterwards.

Mmm, now what got me started on today's post? oooh right, she has a new album coming out! Well new isn't exactly the right word although there are several songs that hadn't previously been released. Dolly is a 4 disk box set coming out next week-- Tuesday to be exact... I know this because it's my birthday! Yep, Dolly is releasing this awesome box set on my birthday. Coincidence? I think not.

As I was looking over the list of songs on the albums I was hard pressed to pick a favorite so I'm not. It's a fabulous catalogue of old and new songs. SOME of my personal favorites include Jolene, Island in the Stream, Time for me to Fly and Silver & Gold.

Okay okay, one more Dolly story then its off to refill my coffee cup and check into my twitter account. It's already been several hours since I logged on this morning who knows what I've missed! Anyone else following the Chuck Todd Goatee-gate? Reminds me of presidential campaign season when everyone is all giddy with campaign silliness. Whose ready for 2012? I know I am!

So back to Dolly one last time... Did you know that Elvis offered to record a version of her song "I Will Always Love You" in the early 60's. She turned him down, shocking the music world. Yes she turned Elvis down because he would only do it if he could buy the rights to the song. While I think he would have done a fantastic job with the song, I'm so impressed with her integrity. And financially it wasn't so bad a decision either since I'm sure she made a whole lot more money when Whitney Houston performed her own version 25 years later.

Please go check out her website and take a listen to some of your favorite Dolly tunes and maybe discover a few new favorites.

And because it's friday I thought I'd throw in one of my favorite scenes from Steel Magnolias...

Truvy: "Well, in a good shoe I wear a size 6 but a 7 feels so good I buy a size 8" Clairee: "They're a size 8 1/2"
Truvy: "Perrrrfect"

What a true statement... for this shoe lovin' woman at least!

Happy Friday!

Movie Review ~ Adventureland

After tossing around a few different ideas for this morning's blog post I thought I'd go with a quick movie review of Adventureland, a film DH and I watched on Friday evening as well as mention Good Hair, a movie that hasn't been released quite yet but that I'm just dying to see!

I wasn't all that surprised that I'd never even heard of Adventureland when DH suggested it, that is until he mentioned that "you know... that gal from Twilight is in it." Huh? How had I missed that? I'm not saying I visit any Kristen Stewart specific websites or anything but you'd think I'd picked up on that somewhere. Despite my Twilight obsession I hadn't. And just in case you aren't familiar with this actress, she is the co-star of Twilight, playing the character Bella Swan. My dreamy crush, Edward Cullen's life long love. *NOTE: I'm totally over my Friday crisis about being "too old for Edward." As a friend pointed out to me on Sunday, "Don't be ridiculous, he's 110 for goodness sake." Well despite my earlier protests that... well that and a few hours spent reading some compelling fan fiction this weekend was enough for me.

But again, I know I'm slightly off topic...

Adventureland is a cute and quirky independent style film about finding out who you really are, what you really want to be and more importantly who you want to be with. A bit like that "quarter-life crisis" email that was going around so long ago... gosh, well probably about 10 years ago now. I wonder if kids in their mid 20's are still reading it? I know that it ... like totally spoke to me. (snicker snicker)

The film takes place at a failing amusement park and mostly focuses on the young employees working there. The plot isn't too complicated and the characters are all-for the most part-likable and funny. I will point out two observations I made to DH. First, having only seen one other movie of Kristen Stewart's work (the aforementioned Twilight) I found it odd that her mannerism where almost identical in both. The characters are pretty different so I wonder if that's just a coincidence or if she is inserting more of herself into these roles than I would have thought common.

Second, and this is obviously more of a personal observation than a critique of the film. I think I'm getting old. For the first time I had as much empathy for the parents as I did for the kids who were clearly the main characters of the film. Not that the parents were perfect, far from it and in some ways as confused and lost as the kids were (I'm guessing that was one of the deeper points of the film). I just didn't seem to be able to justify some of the kids' behavior. I won't go into too much detail in case you plan on seeing the film, just an observation I made. Now I should probably go and find a copy of Pump up the Volume to see if Christian Slater can still inspire me to "Make Noise" and "Talk Hard" (the inner teenager in me is giggling).

So the long and short of it is that I don't think Adventureland is going to win an Oscar or anything but it's a fun date night movie with some hilarious one liners. Considering that my ideal Friday night with DH now consists of staying home to make pizza and enjoy a nice big glass of wine and a movie this was a perfect choice!

Here is the trailer for Adventureland, please enjoy. And if you like what you see, you too can watch for a mere $4.99 thanks to the brilliant folks at Comcast....

Okay, on to Good Hair. You may be wondering how in the world I heard about this movie since it's not even out yet. While I was enjoying the tasty popcorn in a very dark theater awaiting the start of The September Issue last month this was one of the previews for coming attractions. I was in tears I was laughing so hard. I mean who could have guessed in one preview you could feature Maya Angelou, Chris Rock and the Rev. Al Sharpton. The film is made in a documentary style with Chris Rock interviewing a myriad of famous and not so famous African Americans about what it means to have "good hair." I had absolutely no idea what goes into creating "good hair" nor did I realize how much money goes along with it. Apparently its a $9 BILLION industry. Wow! Well the business aspect aside, check out the preview and I hope you enjoy as much as I did. It's being released in New York this weekend (Friday, October 9th) and in locations across the country later this month (Friday, October 23rd).

Happy Viewing!

Twilight Post ~ New Moon Trailer

Okay okay, so believe it or not I really do try to limit my time spent in the world of all things Twilight... and believe me when I say it seriously has it's own world! And its not just filled with screaming teens. I am a big fan of TwilightMoms as I've mentioned before and even though it can be a bit racy (to say the least) the ladies at Twitarded are hilarious and I thoroughly enjoy my daily visits to their site. Mini-E is such a charmer, perhaps he'll replace Flat Stanley one day? Wouldn't you like to see Mini-E visit the White House?

And just in case you are worried about it being a Wednesday with no recipe from Ouiser, never fear I fully intend to post one later today... after my moment of Twilight weakness.

I stumbled upon this fabulous little gem yesterday, it's the Twilight: Ultimate New Moon Extended Movie trailer while browsing around in the online Twilight universe (please no judgement, it's not my fault the library didn't have the book I wanted.) I'm not sure if it was created officially or by a fan, but it's a combination of all three of the New Moon trailers released so far, a "3 in 1" if you will. It is courtesy of Robsessed and even though I've now seen it a number of times while trying to remember how to post the video on my blog, I still get goosebumps all up and down my arms by the time the clip is over. I really think New Moon is going to be awesome! Yep, I said awesome, like totally totally awesome. :)

Please enjoy and remember only another 2 1/2 months till the movie comes out. No, I haven't taken the time to count the days, I'm not that bad.... yet.

Oh and just because I couldn't help myself I thought I'd also post this picture from last weekend's MTV VMAs.

I really don't care if Rob and Kristen are dating but the dress is really quite beautiful and I do love her new haircut and yes obviously the pose is completely adorable. Makes me want to snuggle up to DH right now.

Happy viewing!

Ouiser

Finally ~ The September Issue Review

Good Morning dear readers, I must begin off topic today ... again ... as I'm terribly distracted this morning. I had quite a difficult time pulling myself away from a new book I started this weekend to write this post but as I only have about a hour during my son's morning nap I would hate to disappoint my mother in law by not posting anything. Alas I'm afraid she may be my only reader today as my own mother is away at a conference and I'm not really sure she's learned to navigate the Internet on her blackberry. I am in fact still trying to help her turn off the annoying read receipt on her email. It's a bit like the blind leading the blind.

Anyway, I'm midway through book one of a devilishly wonderful fiction trilogy. Oh I can't wait to finish. If the other two books are half as addicting as the first I may just have to do a review of each as I don't think I can bare to wait. A quick teaser can't hurt right? Its set in London at the turn of the 20th century and it details the life of a very well to do woman-- her marriage, unconventional career, family, hopes, dreams, fears and as I'm just discovering temptations.

Okay okay, back to the movie review...

Just as I expected, The September Issue was absolutely delicious!

The whole film was really just so interesting. Aside from the beautiful fashions (which there are enough to make anyone woman drool), it was a brilliant glimpse into the lives of such fascinating people. It is literally a visual run down of how they conceptualize, design, create, edit and finalize their most important magazine of the year.

As so many other reviewers have pointed out Grace Coddington, Vogue's Creative Director was a shining star in the film. She is shown to be charming, realistic, sensitive, sympathetic and clearly a creative genius. Her photo shoots are breathtaking -- fun, romantic, flirty and bold. I felt in so many ways the film sets her image against that of Anna Wintour, Vogue's Editor. Anna was portrayed (and quite rightly I'm sure) as a quiet, thoughtful (as in giving much thought not as is kind and generous of spirit), brilliant perfectionist. I think this is a fair comparison, because while the two smart, stubborn women are almost constantly at odds they obviously have a mutual and genuine respect for the other's talents.

I'm not at all sorry to say that I completely disagree with a number of the film's critics who say it was not a flattering portrayal of Mrs. Wintour. I didn't think she was, as some have described cast as the villain. It is her job and ultimately her responsibility to publish the best magazine, something she clearly takes very seriously.

Perhaps it's my own background that leads me to this conclusion. I have worked for a number of strong, smart, determined women who just also happen to demand perfection, as they see it. I have also worked in a field that often requires a 24 / 7 commitment. In politics, and especially in campaigns you are always on call -- on your weekends, your vacation, a birthday, and yes in some cases your wedding and honeymoon (oh yes, I have a wonderful friend who spent her honeymoon working in Iowa during the primary, she's a much better staffer than I, but I do love and respect her immensely!) If this is something that is intolerable best pick a different career because I don't see it changing anytime soon.

But back to the film... another highlight for me is Andre Leon Talley, Vogue's Editor At-large. He is a gregarious, over the top, entertaining bright shining light through out the film. A particularly favorite scene is Andre playing tennis, decked to the nines in Ralph Lauren attire, a diamond encrusted Piaget "tennis" watch and dramatically draped Louis Vuitton throw wrapped around his shoulders. Oh, and of course a LV racket holder and yes LV travel vanity to hold his bottled water. Such extravagance is so over the top that it actually comes off quite charming and not at all pretentious.

Over all I think this is a wonderfully entertaining film for anyone interested in fashion. It reminded me so much of why little girls love to play dress up and pretend to be princesses. It's a world of beautiful fantasy. Not a bad way to spend two hours on a Saturday morning.

Cheers,
Ouiser

**Movie Reminder** The September Issue

On the off chance you haven't been counting the days since I last posted about The September Issue this mini post is for you!

Just a friendly reminder that The September Issue, a documentary about Vogue Editor, Anna Wintour and how she and her team assembled the September 2007 issue, it's largest ever is finally being released across the country this weekend. My mother (also known as Mamere) is in town visiting and we have a wonderful Saturday morning planned at the very artsy Shirlington theater to see the movie.

While I'm sure you will be at the first showing, as we plan to be. If for some reason you can't make it (I guess tailgating for the 2:30 pm kick off of the TX vs. Wyoming game is really the only valid excuse I can think of) never fear! I will happily post my own review of the movie come Monday.

And if you want to check out more information about the movie, it's cast and crew and a number of reviews they have a new website up and running.

Cheers,
Ouiser

Must See Movie: The September Issue

Now that we have our precious son, DH and I hardly see any movies unless they are on Comcast On Demand so I'm usually at least six months behind when it comes to any movie. However, I'm eagerly anticipating the release of a new movie, that I want to tell you about! The September Issue.

Actually, there are several movies I'm looking forward to-- The sequel to Sex in the City of course. And it should go with out saying that if at all possible, I'll be at the opening of New Moon come November 20th. Yes, I will have just had a baby 2 weeks before and yes I'm sure I'll be surrounded by 100 screaming teen-age girls. After all, despite being less than impressed with the movie version of Twilight I bought the dvd and even watched it with the director (Catherine Hardwicke), Rob and Kristen's comments. As long as I've veered off into the world of twilight for a moment I might as well also mention how adorable both Rob and Kristen are on the directors cut. Exactly how you'd probably react if you had to comment on a film you made as a teenager. Both were embarrassed and cracking each other up about their own flaws, totally adorable!

But back to THIS post....

I'm sure, like me you saw The Devil Wears Prada and already knew about Anna Wintour's crazy and hard as nails reputation. I am always intrigued by strong women in power, be it politics, business or fashion. So to find out about this movie (and before it's even out) is quite exciting! The September Issue tells the story of how the legendary editor, Anna Wintour puts together *along with an amaaaaazing team* the 2007 September issue of Vogue. To date, the largest isssue ever.

It premiered in NYC this week to rave reviews, albeit it not all the reviews of Ms. Wintour were that flattering. Are you really surprised? I liked one review in particular, mostly because it highlights Grace Coddington, Vogue's long time Creative Director. I hadn't realized that she started the same day as Ms. Wintour and it seems they've had quite an interesting working experience from day one. Reminds me a bit of how fundraising and policy staff can butt heads on a campaign and yet respect each other. (okay sometimes those policy folks are just wrong, but thats a whole other issue).

If you are lucky enough to be in "The City" you can see the film starting Aug. 28th. However if you, like me live elsewhere, you will have to wait until September 11th. Luckily, my wonderful mother will be in town that weekend so hopefully DH can have an afternoon playdate with our precious son while the ladies head out for a matinee screening!

Oh, and if my smashingly brilliant post wasn't enticing enough, here's a look at the preview, "approved for appropriate audiences." Does this mean I have to wear a designer label to see the movie? Oh golly, I should probably be prepared just in case I think.

Cheers,
